Our story begins with Johannes Johansson, a passionate entrepreneur who was born on May 26, 1821. In 1850, he moved with his wife to the Broholm farm, where he saw a fantastic opportunity to create something great. With wood from the Ruder farm and a small workshop in a two-room croft, Johannes began making wicker chairs. With hard work and the help of his children, who turned during evenings and weekends, he quickly managed to win the trust of customers. The chairs were sold at local markets in Hjo, Skövde and Skara, and the response was overwhelming.

The small business grew and when Johannes later moved production and family to Lillholmen, it became the starting point for what we today call SA Möbler.

It was during the 1890s that Johannes' son-in-law, Emanuel Andersson, took over the helm and set a new direction for the business. With his sharp business acumen and leadership, the company grew rapidly, and already in 1896 a completely new factory was put into operation. Emanuel was a pioneer in the furniture industry and his furniture, especially the five-drawer oak desks, became an immediate success. This passion for craftsmanship and innovation, where collaborations with other local producers strengthened the business, laid the foundation for what we today call a legacy of quality and sustainable development.

In the 1930s, Samuel Andersson, Emanuel's son, took over the business and under his leadership we continued to develop and think new things. Samuel renewed furniture production with innovative materials and methods, and the company's reputation for quality furniture grew strongly. During the 1940s, in the wake of World War II, we grew further and expanded our factory to meet demand. In 1959, Samuel's sons, Folke and Harald Almestål, took over the business and started a completely new factory which is still the heart of our production today.

The road ahead has never stopped, and under the leadership of Kjell Hammar, who took over the company in 1983, SA Möbler has continued to develop and lead the way for innovative solutions in office and public furniture. Kjell has been a driving force behind some of our most prominent products, such as height-adjustable desks and designer furniture such as Snitsa® – a revolution in modern workplace design. His vision and passion for innovation have continued to drive us forward, and today we are proud to be a leading supplier of tailor-made solutions for companies and organizations throughout Scandinavia.

From our early days in Broholm to our modern factory, where innovation and tradition go hand in hand, we are proud to be part of the history of the Swedish furniture industry. Our journey is far from over, and we are excited to take the next step in the global market. We have already received recognition for our products at international fairs, and our focus on quality, sustainability and design means that we are ready to meet new challenges and continue to grow.

SA Möbler is not just a furniture manufacturer – we are part of a living tradition of innovation, craftsmanship and sustainability. Together with our customers, partners and designers, we create the workplaces and public environments of the future. It is a joy to see our passion for design and function develop into furniture that really makes a difference. Welcome to SA Möbler – where history meets future.
